Omer Suljevic from the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma was awarded third place in the podium presentations at the annual meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society in Charlotte, North Carolina. The study, entitled ‘Osseointegration Potential of Mg-Based Implants: A Novel Biomechanical Comparison of ZX00 to PLGA and Titanium Screws in a Preclinical Ovine Model’, was recognised by the Implant Section of the Orthopaedic Research Society.

The study demonstrated that ZX00 magnesium implants exhibit comparable osseointegration, mechanical stability and biocompatibility to titanium and polymer implants, and thus hold great clinical potential for selected applications in orthopaedics and trauma surgery.

The Medical University of Graz warmly congratulates Omer Suljevic on this award!
