Highlights: Opening of the CD Laboratory for Lipid Emulsions
The official opening of the new Christian Doppler Laboratory for Lipid Emulsions as a paradigm shift in chemotherapy took place yesterday in the auditorium of the Medical University of Graz. Numerous representatives from the worlds of science, business and politics attended the event, thereby underscoring the high relevance of the new research laboratory. Following the official opening by the Rector of the Medical University of Graz, Andrea Kurz, welcoming remarks were given by Thomas Saghi of the Christian Doppler Research Association and Head of the Key Technologies Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology (BMWET), Gerhard Stark, CEO of KAGes; Akos Heinemann, Vice Rector of Research; Bernadette Liegl-Atzwanger, Acting Head of the Diagnostic and Research Institute of Pathology; and Birgit Steiner-Zitzenbacher, Fresenius Kabi Austria GmbH. All speakers emphasised the importance of the Christian Doppler Laboratories as a bridge between excellent basic research and industrial application. A particular highlight was the video tour of the new CD Laboratory, which gave guests their first glimpse behind the scenes. Beate Rinner, Head of the CD Laboratory, then presented her research focus and provided an outlook on upcoming research projects. During the get-together that followed, the numerous visitors took the opportunity to exchange ideas and network.
