To mark World Creativity and Innovation Day on 21 April, the rectors of universities in Styria and Carinthia are joining forces to highlight the central role of creative thinking in science and research.

World Creativity and Innovation Day was recognised by the United Nations in 2018 and focuses on the importance of creativity and innovation for social progress and sustainable development. For the first time, Austria’s universities are marking this day with a joint campaign and, under the hashtag #ALLESUNI, are sending a clear message about the impact of research and creativity on society.

“Creativity is the starting point of every scientific discovery – it drives researchers to ask new questions, take unusual paths and push the boundaries of knowledge. Ideas give rise to reliable findings that improve our everyday lives and enable solutions to the challenges of tomorrow.”

On 24 April, Austria’s universities will demonstrate just how diverse, surprising and inspiring science can be at the Long Night of Research – an invitation to the general public to experience creativity and innovation first-hand.
