Commitment to practice-oriented specialist medical training
A new training format has been established in Graz with the first training seminar organised by the Austrian Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ÖGOuT) for junior doctors undergoing specialist training. The seminar marks the start of a planned series of training events organised by the ÖGOuT for doctors in training.
The seminar, which focused on the spine, was organised by Peter Ferlic, Tenure-Track Professor of Spinal Surgery and Orthopaedics and Head of the Spine Section at the ÖGOuT.
Over three days, the trainee specialists were provided with knowledge relevant to their specialist qualification examination as well as practical content for everyday clinical practice. The theoretical part comprised lectures by renowned Austrian spine experts as well as interactive case discussions. During the practical part, participants were able to apply their knowledge directly and practise surgical techniques in the modern facilities of the Department of Anatomy at the Medical University of Graz.
The event, which was organised in cooperation with the Austrian Society for Spinal Surgery, underlines the strong commitment of the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma in Graz to teaching and continuing professional development, whilst also highlighting the importance of Graz as one of Austria’s leading centres for spinal surgery. The facilities at the Medical University of Graz provided the ideal setting for an inspiring training course.
