Over 2,000 runners completed the five-kilometre route through Graz city centre and the Stadtpark for a good cause. As part of this charity event in the fight against cancer, the participants helped in two ways: not only did the run send a strong message of support and solidarity, but the net proceeds also go towards funding both cancer research at the Medical University of Graz and projects that benefit cancer patients at the University Hospital of Graz.

Through the city for a good cause

Organised by the Comprehensive Cancer Center (Univ. CCC Graz), a joint institution of the Medical University of Graz and the University Hospital Graz, the run started on Saturday, 25 April at 5 pm. The route led from Karmeliterplatz through Stadtpark and the city centre, before the participants crossed the finish line back at Karmeliterplatz after five kilometres. Before the starting gun was fired, University of Medicine Graz Rector Andrea Kurz and the spokesperson for the Univ. CCC Graz, Philipp Jost, expressed their thanks to the runners present and their supporters and cheered them on.

Individual runners, teams of two and teams of four were able to register for the run; furthermore, the route could be completed by running or walking. The fastest female runner crossed the finish line in a time of 18 minutes and 39 seconds, whilst the fastest male runner reached the finish in 16 minutes

Med Uni Graz, LKH University Hospital Graz and Univ. CCC Graz would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the runners, their supporters and the volunteers who helped organise the run and ensured the event ran smoothly.
