The new academic year has begun: A warm welcome to the Medical University of Graz

The start of the new academic year brings with it some special developments once again this year. For the first time, the University of Medical Sciences Graz is offering a Master’s programme in Psychotherapy, thereby expanding its range of courses to include a new and important field. Med Uni Graz is also making its mark internationally: in the latest THE World University Rankings, it is ranked 221st out of more than 2,200 universities worldwide, an improvement on last year’s position. This result highlights the university’s achievements in research, teaching, knowledge transfer and internationalisation.

A day full of new impressions

For first-year students, their studies began with a varied programme. They gained a closer understanding of the Medical University of Graz, its functions and structures; they also received insights into learning objectives and role models, and were provided with important information on the fundamentals and structure of the degree programme. The programme also included an introduction to subject-specific topics. Under the title ‘Natural Sciences as the Foundations of Medicine’, the session focused on the basic scientific knowledge upon which medicine is built. The first day of the academic year concluded with the student fair. Here, the new students were able to find out about the wide range of services offered by Med Uni Graz, get to know various facilities and make their first contacts.
