New FWF Board of Trustees elected: Two experts from the Medical University of Graz are among the members
The General Assembly of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) has elected a new Board of Trustees for the forthcoming three-year term of office, running until 2029. The Board of Trustees is the FWF’s central scientific body and decides five times a year, on the basis of international expert reviews, on the funding of research projects.
In future, the Board of Trustees will comprise a total of 73 scientific reviewers. Alongside 46 re-elected members, 27 new members were elected. The members represent a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines and come from universities and non-university research institutions throughout Austria.
Tobias Madl (Biochemistry and Structural Biology) and Corina Madreiter-Sokolowski (Cell Biology) from the Medical University of Graz were newly elected to the Board of Trustees.
The members are appointed for a term of three years and are responsible, amongst other things, for selecting suitable international reviewers and for making funding decisions based on the reviews received. Strict compliance regulations are in place to ensure impartiality and independent funding decisions.
